Waterfront, Wakefield

Our joint venture CTP St James secured planning permission to develop out a new riverside quarter in Wakefield incorporating a large number of listed buildings on the riverside. The proposed development extends to more than 50,000 sq.m. of office and residential accommodation complimented by various retail and restaurant uses and the Hepworth Wakefield, the city’s new art gallery. Phase 1 was completed in 2009 and saw the reinvigoration of the once thriving waterfront as a new quarter for the city. The Phase 1 development included the restoration of the grade II * listed Calder & Navigation Warehouse as offices, two new office buildings totalling 3,104 sq.m. and a 58 unit apartment building known as Hebble Wharf.

The project was delivered in partnership with both Wakefield Council and the Canal & River Trust, both major landowners, and involved significant grant assistance from both Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Funds, administered by the Government Office for Yorkshire & Humberside.
