Waterfront – Wakefield
Waterfront Wakefield is being delivered by our CTP St James joint venture. The project sees the reinvigoration of the once thriving Waterfront as a new quarter for the city. The development is built around the old wharfs and warehouses that already exist and by adding exciting new buildings we hope to foster a new community on site.
The scheme when fully built out will extend to over 10 acres and includes a large number of listed buildings, which will be comprehensively refurbished. Outline planning permission exists for more than 50,000 m² of primarily office and residential accommodation although these are complemented by various retail and restaurant uses and the Hepworth Wakefield, the city’s new art gallery.
The project has been delivered in partnership with both Wakefield Council and British Waterways, both major landowners, and has involved significant grant assistance from both Yorkshire Forward and the European Regional Development Funds, administered by the Government Office for Yorkshire and Humberside.
