Electric Press – Leeds
The Electric Press was delivered by our joint venture Asda St James and is a mixed-use leisure scheme built around a former Carriageworks overlooking the new Millennium Square opposite the Civic Hall in Leeds City Centre.
The scheme incorporates the new 350 seat Carriageworks Theatre and conference facility suspended above HaHa Bar to minimise noise transmission between the two. Casa Mia run a successful restaurant from the scheme and there are various other bars and restaurants including Epernay, a champagne bar now a destination in its own right. The scheme includes a Revolution nightclub along with some 2,000 m² of offices leased to Leeds Met University.
The scheme combines the refurbishment of the magnificent Electric Press building with the creation of new buildings that complement both the historic older buildings and the new Millennium Square. The project was completed in 2005.
